Focus Malaysia 27 Sep 2018 16:09
Malaysia’s leading security-related ICT solutions provider Datasonic Group Berhad (“Datasonic” or “the Company”) through its subsidiary Datasonic Smart Solutions Sdn Bhd has been honoured at the Malaysia Cyber Security Awards 2018 and Gala Dinner for being one of the prestigious Cyber Security Company of the Year at Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur yesterday evening.

Datasonic’s Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Datasonic, General Tan Sri (Dr) Mohamed Hashim bin Mohd Ali (Rtd) and Datuk Haji Abu Hanifah Bin Noordin, Managing Director of Datasonic received the award on behalf of the Company.

The Awards ceremony was graced by Cyber Security Malaysia Board Chairman General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Bin Mohamed (Retired) and Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia YB Tuan Eddin Syazlee Shith.

Datasonic has been providing high security systems to the Malaysian Government since its inception in 1999. As Malaysia’s MyKad and Passport provider, the Group believes that it offers all the cost effective solutions with the highest security features to the nation. The strong focus on security solutions has garnered the company many prestigious industry awards and accolades over the years.

Notably, Datasonic has invested heavily in Research and Development in the sphere of multimodal biometrics in the last five years, particularly in the area of fingerprint, as well as facial and eyes (iris biometric). Today, the company is ready to bring this into the digital space and secure its name in the form of Digital Identity, which it calls Malaysia Identity Management or MYIDM. This system provides shared, secured and a trusted ID platform that revolutionises the way we identify people.

Presently, the system that Datasonic is working on is able to provide proper KYC (Know your Customer), ensuring more comfort to users to identify the person that they are dealing or communicating with. Therefore, having an identity online that is verifiable will secure not only business and government transactions, but will offer a sense of relief to parents and family that they are protected from online predators, who may take advantage of the anonymity provided by the Internet.

Datasonic has also been upgrading MyKad by strengthening the security systems for it. As of March 2018, Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara issued a new batch of MyKad with Enhanced Biometric Access (EBA) features supplied by Datasonic. EBA is a security design implemented in the MyKad Chip OS to gives a state-of-the-art security function on top of the current MyKad communication protocol.

“Being awarded for one of the prestigious Cyber Security of the Year is certainly a significant milestone for Datasonic. All of our employees constantly strive to serve stakeholders at best and most effectively via “offer cheaper, better and best of the best products and services.” Datasonic has continuously proven to be a long-term investor and a key development partner in the security-related ICT solutions provider in Malaysia. Rest assured that we will remain committed in delivering our promise to explore and expand our business in secured ID and personalisation services, as well as integrated security and surveillance solutions, both locally and regionally. The future indeed looks bright for Datasonic and we will do our best to deliver improved shareholder value” said General Tan Sri (Dr) Mohamed Hashim bin Mohd Ali (Rtd).
