MDTCA to continue working with MIMOS

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail is looking at working together with national applied research and development (R&D) centre, MIMOS, leveraging the agency’s technology capabilities.

During his maiden visit to MIMOS, here, today, Saifuddin said the ministry would build a strategic partnership with MIMOS to use its advanced technologies that can improve its service delivery system.

Saifuddin was briefed by the agency’s senior management team led by chief executive officer Ahmad Rizan Ibrahim. The minister was accompanied by his deputy Chong Chieng Jen and key officials.

Also present were MIMOS Chairman Datuk Wira Omar Kaseh and MIMOS Chief Technology Officer Thillai Raj Ramanathan.

Ahmad Rizan welcomed the call to collaborate with the ministry in supporting its policies
and initiatives that can benefit the rakyat.

During the briefing, Saifuddin was made aware of MIMOS’ role in driving technologies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as on its capabilities in supporting government agencies.

Thillai Raj in his presentation said among advanced technologies that could be used to support the ministry include Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Edge/Cloud Computing and Blockchain.

Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics along with geographic information system (GIS)-based consumption modelling could be used to help combat fraud and subsidy leakage, he said.
