SEGi University & Colleges: Standing out in the competitive job market

THE proof is in the pudding, they say, and in the case of SEGi graduates, their quality is obviously in their marketability in the working world.

SEGi University & Colleges, in its 45 years of excellence, has perfected its delivery of quality tertiary academic programmes within the reach of willing minds and natural talents.

SEGi students are moulded into well-rounded professionals with stellar scholar achievements in line with its brand promise, ‘The Best In You, Made Possible’.

Despite the unforeseen challenges of the recent pandemic, SEGi Group Managing Director Tan Sri Clement Hii stressed that its group of institutions was quick to adapt to the “new normal” of conducting its programmes in the digital sphere.

“While other universities slowly transitioned to go online, SEGi has gone digital since 2013. Our programmes are offered in conventional, online and hybrid modes and are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA),” explained Tan Sri Clement Hii.

“Thus, this gives students the assurance and flexibility to get the best out of their studies before entering the workforce.”

Hii also shared his proudest moment when nearly 1,400 students across 40 programmes from SEGi College Subang Jaya and its three partner institutions – the University of Greenwich (UK), the University of Sunderland (UK), and Troy University (USA) – received their hard-earned scrolls on May 21, 2022 at SEGi University Kota Damansara.

University of Greenwich deputy vice-chancellor Professor Jane Roscoe said, “The University of Greenwich and SEGi share a long partnership. It is strengthened year by year because our goals are aligned – and that is to provide not only an academically excellent programme but also to train and prepare our students to take what they’ve learnt and put it into practice.”

In addition to the convocation, Professor Roscoe also chaired the institutional review between the University of Greenwich (UoG) and SEGi held on May 24, 2022 at SEGi College Subang Jaya.

The review was successful, and the two institutions are in talks to conduct live lectures once a month.

The institutional review concluded on a high note. Students received outstanding teachings from lecturers at SEGi despite restrictions due to the pandemic.

The panel was impressed with the students’ performance and the fact that they have been proven to be academically gifted, and are welcomed to continue their studies at the university.

Further, the Business School in SEGi and UoG plan to organise ‘Chit Chat Week’ for continued engagement between the students.

SEGi’s strong presence in the academic arena is world-recognised; SEGi has been awarded the overall outstanding QS 5 Stars Plus University status for attaining the QS 5 Stars rating in eight evaluations, including Employability, valid from years 2022 to 2024.

This recognition places SEGi as one of only 19 universities worldwide and among the two Malaysian universities to achieve this prestigious rating.
