Amlex Holdings Berhad (‘Amlex” or “the Group”), a leadframe manufacturer listed on Bursa Malaysia’s LEAP Market, announced today that it has started producing pre-molded leadframes at its new plant located in Bukit Minyak, Seberang Prai.
The new plant, which is an extension of the Group’s existing facility in the same area, brings the Group’s total manufacturing space to 100,000 sq.ft. Amlex has also invested a total of RM6 million to date for new machines, equipment and R&D facilities to enable the Group to manufacture new products like the pre-molded leadframes.
The production of pre-molded leadframes marks a significant milestone for the Group as global demand for this product has increased exponentially in tandem with electronic devices becoming thinner and smaller. Amlex is currently able to produce an estimated 1 million strips pre-molded leadframes a year, selling to multinational corporations in Malaysia and also exporting directly to countries in the Asia Pacific region and to the United States which would contribute to approximately an increase of 15% in sales revenue.
Lim Say Soon, Group Managing Director, Amlex Holdings Berhad, said, “Being able to produce more complex electronic packaging and interconnect solutions and in greater quantity will enable us to grow our revenue as well as place us in a better position to tap the fast-growing global semiconductor industry.”
“Amlex is also investing up to RM4 million in design as well as in R&D activities that are focused on motion sensors for industrial automation and component in future smartphones. We intend to increase our manufacturing capacity by 10%, which will in turn contribute to approximately 25% increase in revenue in the near future.”
In a bit to strengthen the Group’s market share in Malaysia’s electronic packaging and interconnect solutions industry, Amlex will be showcasing its manufacturing and technical capabilities at the upcoming SEMICON Southeast Asia 2019. Amlex’s booth will be part of the Malaysia Pavillion managed by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
Lim added, “With our new production capacity and capabilities, we are currently in a better position to expand our sales, enlarging our customer base both domestically and globally. SEMICON Southeast Asia is an ideal platform for companies like ours to reach, network and engage potential customers or catalyse win-win collaborations. We also proud to be a flag-bearer for Malaysian innovation and technology at a prestigious global trade event like SEMICON Southeast Asia 2019,” Lim concluded.
SEMICON Southeast Asia 2019 will be held from 7-9 May 2019 at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). Recognised as the region’s premier industry gathering connecting innovators, products and technologies across the electronics manufacturing supply chain, SEMICON Southeast Asia 2019 is themed ‘Think Smart Make Smart’ and aims to foster the resilient and growing electronics manufacturing supply chain in Southeast Asia. The show will feature three themed pavilions, five global pavilions, and a host of keynote presentations and forums that will address key, trending topics within the semiconductor ecosystem.
