Make more effort to attract the tourism dollar

Sometimes we wonder why the government is not doing more to attract tourists to Malaysia.

It’s worrying that the number of tourist arrivals has been falling since 2016. To stop this decline, the relevant authorities have to take proactive measures.

They can start by looking at where our largest tourist arrivals come from, besides Singapore. Statistics show they are from Indonesia, China, Thailand and Brunei. The highest growth in arrivals are from Vietnam, Cambodia, Russia, Belgium and Spain.

We must see how we can attract more of them. And that means re-looking at policies relating to visas, entry permits, and packages and facilities.
