MCMC to ensure prepaid users are registered

THE revelation by the Royal Malaysian Police that we are losing RM2 bil annually to scammers is indeed worrying. What is even more distressing is that, according to the police, ecommerce and telecomunication fraud top the list of losses due to these scams.

“If we don’t do something about this, it may affect our economy,” Bukit Aman CCID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Zakaria Ahmad was quoted as saying in the media recently. These scams, if not addressed, will certainly bring dire impact to our economy. Zakaria further explained that most of the scammers are foreigners who have somehow obtained prepaid phone numbers for their illegal activities.
