On May 9, Tun Daim Zainuddin was on the 60th floor of his Ilham Tower in Kuala Lumpur reflecting on the first anniversary of Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) historic election victory. “We have certainly come a long way since the election but there is still a lot to be done,” he tells FocusM in an exclusive and wide-ranging interview that day, reminiscing on the progress of the country one year under PH.
Certainly last year, on this very day, the scene was very different. Daim was not accorded the stunning vistas of his office in Ilham, which is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city. He would cap the small hours of May 10 witnessing Mahathir return as prime minister.
