Telcos, exporters in focus during the bear

With the bears being in control of the local bourse, investor sentiments and market focus seem to be shifting towards sectors that are likely to perform better in the near term.

Market observers say that, due to lack of catalysts, sectors which are likely to remain in play include telcos and some undervalued stocks such as the technology companies.

Rubber glove manufacturers and exporters could also get some attention from investors in view of the weak ringgit.

The proposed merger of two local telco giants, announced in a Bursa Malaysia filing on May 6, has stirred the market.
