Top Glove Corporation Bhd (“Top Glove”) recently received 2 prestigious international recognitions for its good practices in the Economic, Environmental and Social (EES) space:

i) Inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Emerging Markets

A testament to Top Glove’s achievements in its sustainability practices, the company was included as an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Emerging Markets in September 2019. Top Glove was ranked 15th out of 44 healthcare companies placing it amongst the top 33% performers across all DJSI indices. Top Glove is the only Malaysian healthcare company included in the DJSI Emerging Markets, which comprises 98 companies from various industries and also 1 of only 2 Malaysian companies on the index.

The DJSI Emerging Market Index tracks the sustainability performance of the top 10% of the largest Emerging Markets companies on the S&P Global Broad Market Index and serves as a key reference point for investors and companies alike.

ii) Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification

Top Glove’s latex concentrate factory (F16L) in Thailand, was also awarded the FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification, the official award ceremony for which took place on 30 September 2019.

The FSC CoC certification demonstrates Top Glove’s commitment to latex sourcing in an environmentally responsible and socially beneficial manner, which is aligned with the United Nations (UN) Sustainability Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption & Production. This provides credible assurance that Top Glove upholds the highest standards in terms of its management systems, ethical material sourcing and handling and traceability.

Top Glove’s Board Sustainability Committee Chairman, Ms. Sharmila Sekarajasekaran said: “These achievements mark significant milestones for Top Glove. They speak to our deeply held commitment towards best sustainability practices across every aspect of Top Glove’s business operations. Notably, we strive to create more long term value for all our key stakeholders and the environment. We have also identified key UN SDGs which Top Glove will be advancing within the company.”

Top Glove has established a sustainability governance structure, which comprises the Board Sustainability Committee supported by a Sustainability Steering Group, to enable it to make meaningful progress in this area. Moving forward, the Group will continue to create positive impacts for the society and environment, through healthy economic performance, quality products innovation, highest standards of corporate governance, best labour practices, meaningful community engagement and climate change management.
